A reminder for those with the CB/CM400s. If you're getting over charging or even no charging you need to check the red w/ white tracer that leads out of the reg/rec to the 2-pin canon plug by the starter magnetic switch. This wire has a fibreglass sleeving over it making identification easy.

If this wire has a lot of corrosion or resistance it will cause a voltage drop which makes the reg/rec work harder and will cause overcharging. Eventually this will burn out the wire and you will have no charging. I've seen this frequently on bikes that had an old, dead battery on it. This 2-pin canon plug goes to the magnetic switch and a larger cable leads directly to the positive of the battery. Eventually the corrosion from the old battery leaches to the 2-pin canon plug and sometimes even on the reg/rec side. So check it on the reg/rec side as well.

Notice the corrosion, this is bad. Strip back the sleeving until you have clean wire and crimp a new terminal connector on there.

While you're at it, take a good look at your fuses. If they are original, take them out and see if you can spin the outers with your fingers. If you can, then it will break the inside of the fuse. Replace it. Bussman has 32VDC rated fuses you can use or you can still get them from Honda. Remember, 15A for Main, 7A for headlight and tail. If the old fuses are weak vibration or even some internal resistance from your wiring will cause it to fail.

Here's a link to the 15A Bussman fuse, it's slightly larger than the original but will work fine: https://www.amazon.com/Bussmann-AGC-15-Fuse-Fast-Acting/dp/B00SS2EJ5Y

Bussman has a 7A 250VAC fuse that you could use. I've used them before, works OK. Ideally you want a VDC rated fuse.

Honda part numbers for the fuses, you can order them from Partzilla or the dealer:

15A: 98200-21500
7A: 98200-20700
