So I got in a cl350 project recently. It cranked up well with the starter but wouldnt idle very good or run consistently so I took the carbs off went through those and clean them and replaced anything that needed replacing. I also adjusted the clutch, ignition timing and valve height since I had the exhaust etc out of the way at the time. I followed those guys in Houston videos for all of these procedures. I also installed a new halogen style headlight.
After I put the bike back together and tried to start it up all I get is a click. No turning of the starter. I checked the power coming from the seleniod and I am getting power in the starter side of the selinoid when I push the start button.
Did I mess up my starter when adjusting the valves and Ignition?

Kick the bike through and then try e-start again.....There may be a bad/dirty spot in the starter.....

You could try unscrewing/disconnecting the fat wire going to the starter at the solenoid and then just touch the fat wire terminal coming from the battery with the starter wire and if the starter turns the motor over you have a bad solenoid. Wear eye protection in case there is sparks. Always wear eye protection.

Unfortunately the kick start isnt engaged on this bike. Which looking around seems to be a fairly common problem on these bikes. Maybe I should start there? I was hoping just to depend on the electric starter.

Check the voltage at the starter cable to starter while pushing the button. Might also check battery voltage while doing the same. If the battery is discharged then this is the same symptom.

I took the starter off and it felt a bit stuck so I wiggled it around and it started spinning. Tested it off the bike and worked. So put it back on and it cranked up like before. Thanks for the replies!
