2 right side carbs?

While servicing the carbs on my CL200 I realized it has 2 right side carbs (so I can't easily access the the intake/valves for synchronization.

Anyone else running 2 of the same carbs?24847.jpg

The bike is new to me as is working on motorcycle engines in general. I can't seem to find a left side carb readily available.

It ran before the tune up (although it would bog down in higher gears which is why I did the tune up). I found and replaced a crack the left side intake manifold.

Also, how the heck do you remove and reset the fuel tank without taking a fuel bath! Tips and tricks appreciated
 
You might keep an eye out or create a saved search on eBay for a left carb body. Things are constantly turning up. There is a rough set listed now that seems to include the left carb — it's not in nice shape, but it might be possible to use the body along with the other pieces you already have.

Is the bike running well after the intake repair/replacement?

Those crossover tubes on the tank can be a headache. I drain as much gas out as possible before removing the tank. I'll disconnect the hose on one side and then lift the rear of the tank as quickly as possible. You can try to seal off the hose and exposed tube with your thumb or fingertips, but I usually spill some.

There are also quick connect devices that can be installed inline between the two spigots. I've never used one, but several members here have them.
 
A previous owner has fitted a set on Wincycles ( or other Chinese clone ) carbs. You just need a long screwdriver, to access the left hand carb from the right hand side. I've got a couple of sets of these carbs, never really had a issue with reaching the adjustment screws, it's the fuel hose routing that vexes me.

I just found a left side upper on ebay and purchased it. Plan to scavenge the bowl and guts from the existing. We will see how this goes!

Fact! The fuel hose ruoting is certainly a challenge. Not a lot of room between frame hoses, wires and carbs.

Yes I tried to plug one side with thumb and shoved a bolt into the disconnected hose and that helped a bit but still took a fuel shower.
Mine also has that tiny square peg hose clamp which is a PAIN to tighten 1/4 turn at a time with no space for the wrench due to the exhaust. Going to change that immediately to her head for a proper socket wrench

Replace the fuel line with the proper 5.5mm line from Honda and you won't even need clamps. 4into1 has it but you have to buy 5 feet, @EzPete found a better source through Honda

Which is why Honda didn’t use that style of clamp - everything is spring clamps that you just pinch and slide down the hose.

Proper fuel line is also thinner and more flexible than the 1/4” auto hoses that are on there right now - minor tweaks that can make life a lot easier.

When disconnecting the tank, I drain it completely into a gas can - just run a line from the petcock flip on reserve and come back in 15 minutes.
 
Yes I hope the bowl from the knockoff fits the new upper.
You should be OK, the copy carbs I have here seem to be identical to the originals, so far as the actual castings go. Jets swap straight over without problems, float and needle valve will need to be swapped as a complete assembly, nylon float with a captive viton tipped needle valve, better than original IMHO.
 
Okay time for an update! I was able to find a left carb and swap everything over and installed. Everything pretty easy. The gas lines have been delayed but I have been having trouble Synchronizing the carburetors. As it turns out, since I started with two right carbs, the slides, we're also both right carb slides which explains the rough idle and idle run away I have been experiencing.
Luckily, I was able to find a o e m left slide on ebay, and it has been ordered. Fun, fun!
 
MotionPro also sells the proper fuel line, using anything other than the proper fuel line is just misery

This is probably blasphemous to many on this forum, but I have dispensed completely with crossover fuel tank lines. Plugged them off, don't need 'em. I just lean the bike way over on the petcock side to transfer some fuel while sitting at a stop light if I'm worried about it
