I am currently in the middle of rebuilding my motorcycle after a kid ran it over and the wiring harness got messed up.I see that on the wiring diagram there is a regulator rectifier but there is also still a standard silicone rectifier separate. Is there a way to replace the separate units with one unit that is combined, so as to not have to replace the rectifier anymore? I am rewiring the whole thing going to be putting in a new fuse block headlight and plugs. Though I want to also simplify the system where applicable and get rid of any unnecessary parts. So my question is is there a one-piece unit to replace both the silicone rectifier and the regulator / rectifier as one piece with the wire harness being redone.

I know a lot of other members here swear by Sparckmoto's reg/rec combo. The three-phase model should fit an '80 CM400T. (Double check the wire colors match up, though...)

The silicone rectifier is a small unit that is part of the neutral safety system. If it's removed the electric starter will be inop.
Plus 1 on upgrading the voltage regulator.
