On my 1971 SL100 a previous owner sprayed the frame and all surrounding bits and pieces with black paint. I'm going to paint the frame back to silver and was wondering if things like the air box are also silver or perhaps painted black. I'm thinking I'll sand blast everything so everything frame related will need to be painted and I'd like to use the correct colors.

My mother had a candy green '70 SL100 as her second bike and I put a lot of them together new out of the crate in my first Honda shop job.

The '71 SL100K1 (frame number SL100-200xxx) came in Candy Ruby Red, Candy Emerald Green and Mars Orange. Here's pics of a '71

The airbox was black molded plastic, not painted.

The cover is painted black metal with rubber hose

Thanks ancientdad. Mine is 209366 mfg date 12/70 and is/was Mars Orange. The air box is complete and is all metal. It's going to take a lot of work as it looks like it was ridden very hard and not cared for very well.

I would have liked it to be Emerald Green, but it will make a nice "little brother" to the SL175. Lol

Thanks again - Dennis

Then you definitely have a 1971 SL100K1, and I mentioned it because bikes back then weren't titled until sold so a K1 could be titled '72, and conversely a K0 could have been titled a '71.

Ah, picture was deceiving as well as my memory of the material. Good that it's complete and intact, that would be a tough one to find.

The paint is out there and it would be a stock color, just not for that year originally but only you would know.

Yes it will, and if you had another SL175 to line up with those two, it could look like this. :giggle:
