Removed air filter. Plastic boot was damaged already but after reinstallation now will not idle at all. Starts and runs with choke. Got to be simple.

Removed air filter. Plastic boot was already damaged but after reinstallation will not idle without choke. Must be something basic. Cm250c. Was already helped greatly by you with front brake cable confusion
Thank you.

Thank you. It is the circular piece on the face of air filter "2" air filter. There are no indentations on either filter nor interior of air box that mimic this shape. It is badly damaged. I cut out some foam filter with hole cut out to insert as well if too much air is problem. No effect. Thank you. Bob

Given the number of wires in that area, my bet would be that something is not connected all the way

As I hope you can see, the piece I refer to just bounces around in there. It fits tightly to nothing. I can imagine air rushing by so I created the foam piece. No effect. Thank you.1000001655.jpg1000001656.jpg

I'm not familiar with your model and never worked on them but in looking at the parts fiche it would appear that you system is supposed to be totally closed. I've never seen so many breather tubes and the fact that your side cover requires a seal, makes me think that the looseness you are describing between the air filter (#2) and the connecting tube (#10) is the issue. The connecting tube is still available from CMSNL.

Edit: not available from CMSNL

As a temporary fix you could try to seal the gap with something more air tight like maybe a large o-ring.
