Hello.
I have a question on the suspension on my CD250U. The top of the shock has about 7-8mm side play on the frame mounting lug - measured against the outer most washer shown in the photo. The parts listing shows two additional washers (part number 905282229000 - diagram item 15) are also required and the parts listing seems to indicate that both washers sit on the wheel side of the shock, however I think the parts manual is misleading because surely a washer would go on both sides of the shock? From what I can see online, it looks like the two additional washers are just normal washers, which means I'll still have heaps of free play / sideways movement on the lug even with the two additional washers in place. My shocks are Showa but I'm starting to wonder if they are not the correct item and what I have is just a lot thinner at the lug. So the questions are, should there be any sideways free play on the lug or should it all be snug and just enough free play to allow for a tiny bit of movement. Or are the two missing washers some super thick washers that take up 8mm? I'm going to make what I have work, but I need to know if they were designed to mover around on the lug, or should they be snug like the bottom mounts are snug. I know this is a boring question, but she is almost perfect and I'm starting to get obsessive.

Cheers

Sometimes all it takes is looking at the parts fiche to see what else might be involved (or missing). I suspect the added space is for the forward mount tabs on the grab rail behind the seat to be sandwiched between the washers.

Hello. That is interesting, The Australian released version of the CD250U doesn't have the rack but I'd guess the regional variations would all be built on the same standard platform, so it makes sense that there would be additional space. It also leads me to believe the shocker should be positioned close to the frame and not in the middle of the lug. Thanks for the info. I'll push on with my work around. Cheers. Ken
