Hi, I've had my '82 cb450sc for a few months now and now I've got it running reliably I'm trying to do maintenance before I go about making it pretty again.

I changed and bled the front brake fluid but I know nothing about the rear drums. Do I bleed them? Is that black bowl looking thing the brake fluid reservoir? Do I not bleed them and just change the brakes out when they start squeaking?

The rear brake on your bike is a drum brake, strictly mechanical (no fluid involved). There could be a wear indicator (#10) on the shaft going into the brake backing plate to give you a rough idea of how worn the shoes are.

I'm replacing my tires on my 81 CM400, here's what I found for rear shoes - getting a little thin. I picked up some new shoes on ebay for a little over $20. Taking off wheel is fairly easy and this assembly comes right off.
