Heading home from my shop today - a nice, easy 22 mile backcountry ride - I got to thinking about the Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride and how that only happens once a year on the same weekend. Back on VHT I started poking round the Members section to see if there was a way to put together a ride with local VHT members. Not finding anything 'obvious' on members (aka member geolocation, ride/nav posting, search capabilities, etc.) I thought I'd post and ask.
Is there a capability in the forum as such? Or is that a longer data drop into a dbase, write some code to extract the data back into a file (with subsequent purge) to drive a potentiality list? Yup, that's how my brain works/what I think about. Lucky you to understand the internal machinations...
For example, if one was to set up a ride from Williams, CA out through Clearlake, Hopland, Boonville, and on to Point Arena on the Pac Coast (highway 1) for a bev overlooking the Pacific Ocean, how would one go about contacting like-minded VHT members?
Or - given an earlier post - perhaps one needs VHT 'security' riders to delivering Enigma to Bletchley Park and on to a local pub for a dram.
Is driving that list even possible?
