So, my CB160's PO apparently thought it was a good idea that, after sheering of the shift shaft's gnarled end, attempting to weld a new one on was a good idea and, oh ya, since the lower cover's shift shaft stabilizer was damaged beyond repair... Why not bore out that portion of the cover, weld a cheep, bent threaded rod to the shaft, and thread on several nuts and lock washers into the stabilizer space.

Nope, ya really simply CAN'T make this stuff up. Pandora's box has nuth'n on the internals of a PO'd Honda engine. No siree Bob, surely doesn't.

Beer cans are a handy repair material. My favorite is in the air force when I helped pull a fuel bladder from an F-4 fighter and at the bottom of cavity over the engines was a Pabst Blue Ribbon can that had the ends cut off and flattened and riveted in place staring back at us. Boss laughed and said battle damage field repair and to leave it as is.
