Interesting drive sprocket, I thought

The tops of the old teeth are flat, but the troughs are pretty good!
I‘ve seen oddly shaped troughs before and more pointed teeth, but how’s this squared off at the top?
I wonder if the chain has jumped teeth at some point.
Doesn’t matter as I’m replacing, just curious.

Looks like a Rising Sun logo on there, so it's an aftermarket sprocket and it doesn't look too worn to me. The troughs appear to be symmetric and the teeth only become pointy after they are worn.

Others can judge better. Have you considered a project thread to collect all the observations and progress in one place?

If you don't create a project thread your questions will be all over the place in different categories and hard to follow what is going on with the bike and what you have done. Just a thought.

Old sprocket is at the top. I didn’t want to create a project thread, as I might not show everything I do, just issues 😊
Wow, I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out. So much for the rule of thirds in photography!

The old one shows the expected asymmetric wear and, I guess, the tops do appear a bit flat, although the tend to sharpen as they wear.

You gotta give me credit for judging the brand new sprocket as serviceable!

I suppose I thought if I have an electrical question, I put it under SOHC Twins electrical and fuel, for example, under carburration section. If I create a project thread, an electrical guru, for example, might not look there. Personally, I always look under the bikes specific section for issues and not projects.
If wrong, happy to be told.
