Hello New comer to the forum.
Hello I have a 1970 Honda sl350 k1 with some electrical issue got a new battery when I turn on the bike and at idle it will run quite low anywhere between 11.7 if the bike took some kick to start to 12.7 if the battery has freshly charge and fire up on the first try.
Today I took me a few kick to turn on mostly my fault as the tank was empty
Getting the battery down to about 11.4 before firing and 11.7 once’s it was idling at 4-5k rpm the battery 12.14
When down to the pink and white and yellow cable showed 12at idle and 36 and 5k
Then swap to pink and yellow showed 16 at idle and 30 at 5k
I imagine my issue is with the voltage regulator or rectifier should I change both and what to use
my startor is currently connected to this plug connector and not directly to the connector and not the other one is this correctly connected IMG_1053.jpeg

You'll want to buy this combination rectifier/regulator unit from Sparck Moto, whose owner is also a member here and offers great support for his products.

Then remove the original rectifier (orange finned unit on the far right in your first pic) and the regulator bolted to the bottom of the battery box. But know that these charging systems don't produce much output at idle, in fact they usually discharge until the rpms are above about 2500 to 3000, so idling will not offer any charge to the battery.

That’s absolute deal I just order it and my second question is base on some videos I seen some videos where the rectifier is connected directly to the cables to the alternator but mine isn’t is that okay?

It’s almost always dramatically easier to use a terminal block there than to have the whole thing wired as one piece. Hardwiring the rec/reg has almost zero upside.

If you check the wiring diagram you'll find that it is connected, just internally in the main harness. And you should stop watching videos for proper answers, because most of them are made by guys who have never actually worked on these bikes for a living and probably never even worked at a Honda dealership, much less when these bikes were new and current models. But there are many here who have and did all of that, so you should ask questions here before believing a video from the internet. No matter whose video it is.

When you get the unit from Sparck Moto, it should have instructions with it. If for any reason you need help with it, VHT member @Sonreir is the owner of Sparck Moto and Vintage Connections and he will help you with it.

Truly should have started here before confusing myself further about the electricals.
I appreciate the help I ordered tires for the bike now do you have a recommendation where to get drum brakes as well

If you mean replacement brake shoes, there are options. Vesrah shoes are decent quality, as are EBC.

Davis Silver has these for the rear for a reasonable price

and these for the front

You did see the link about identifying and locating parts in your Welcome Package, right?

We take the time to put those things together to help save you asking some of the basic questions, and the Welcome Package has many things in it that you might find helpful so be sure to take advantage of them.

Also, since your thread has branched out from just electrical to other things, I amended the title.
