i have acquired a set of CM200 exhaust pipes. I decided to attach a singular pipe on my CM185t just to see what it sounded like and that pipe started smoking after ~5-10 seconds of running. Would this be an issue with tuning, since different exhaust/different cc?

Am I understanding correctly that you swapped out one muffler? And the newly installed one smoked?

If it's a used part, it could be cooking off old residue inside that muffler. If the bike is sounding okay otherwise it would hopefully burn off.

Yes, they are from a parted out bike that cracked a piston skirt and died. I only swapped one muffler, though. It sounds pretty damn raspy with them

It's always possible that the mufflers were modified or rusted out during their service on the other bike. And who knows what was blown into those pipes when that motor blew up, but oil is on the list of candidates.

I wouldn't expect a need to retune if the pipes were in good condition.

Oh true, still makes me a little uncomfortable but we'll see

I did forget to mention, they are rusty. when you shake them, sounds little bit like a rainstick
