CB 200 T right side carb

Full stream of fuel out right side carb overflow tube. Threw the bail, pulled bottom off and pushed float up and it stopped. Float felt heavy like it took on some fuel so bounced it around some and reassembled. Took it for a short 1 mile ride and shut the fuel off before pulling in the garage. I just ordered rebuild kits with floats again. The copper ones, not plastic, now I'm second guessing myself, maybe shoulda got the plastic ones. If same problem persists, I'll try the plastic ones. Needle and seats were replaced about 7 months ago. Any ideas?? Thank you
 
The original brass floats can often be repaired after they take on fuel like that, depending on how bad the damage is and how much time you're willing to invest. If you submerge the float in a cup of hot water (near boiling) you will be able to see bubbles escaping from the pinhole or crack. I drill a hole in the side to drain the gas out and then use solder to repair the pinhole/crack as well as the hole I added to drain out the gas.

My experience with this issue stems from dohc CB450 carbs, but yours should be similar.

If you do attempt to re solder, clean as shiny as possible at joint/sweat point, light flux, and quickness is a must. If not it heats up the inside air too much before sealing and either sucks your solder joint in or partially collapses when it cools down. Also make sure all the gas vapor is out before attempting.

Edit: forgot to mention, mark the mount positions of the tang bridge ends in case they unsolder themselves due to not working fast enough.
