I did an oil change on my 1971 CB350 today and found these black bits in the oil. I assume these are from the cam chain roller. Does that sound right? If so, is this amount of wear on the cam chain roller normal?

Something is coming apart internally which could be the roller wheels or slipper guides in the cam chain routing area. It needs further investigation and checking the centrifugal filter setup, which I believe that bike uses would be the next step.
No that isn’t normal. Yet not unusual if the motor has never been serviced or apart. The bike is 54 years old and if still original parts internally, such as the cam chain rollers and guides they are likely hard and brittle now.

Yes, check your oil filter cup and let us know what you find.

The oil filter cup looks like it has some smaller versions of the black bits. I think the pickup screen did prevent the bigger ones from being picked up. There was a little deposit of them right under the screen. Thanks for mentioning the slipper guides - those didn't occur to me. Looks like I'll be taking the top end off soon.

There's only one slipper guide in the front of the cylinders (#11). Those bits are likely from the tensioner roller (#2) though the center roller (#7) may be deteriorating as well. If the engine is still running well but you'd like to look a little deeper into it, you can pull the tensioner from the back of the cylinders and get a look at the roller. If you do so, do NOT rotate the engine at all while the tensioner is removed.

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely take a look that way first.
