'72 CB 350 Cylinder head/carb mount

I have two questions.

Does the face of the cylinder, where the gasket touches, have to be sanded down to metal or could it have some paint on it? I do not want any leaks.

Does the carb get mounted at the angle shown in the picture. I am 99% sure but need confirmation.

Hi John,
I will not pretend to have the years of experience that many others here do.
But.. I had to re-build my top end last year so I went through some of what you're working on.
I would recommend gasket surfaces be as clean as possible. That way you are likely to avoid air leaks that could drive you crazy when you try to get your idle RPM's under control.
As to that angle.. yes. The carbs on a 350 angle slightly outwards. So what you show is correct for the left side carb.
