Hi all,

I decided to dig in deeper on my restore. Here's a photo dump of the current state of parts. I've been cleaning and rebuilding electrical. I'll be moving onto the frame and body work. I rebuilt the motor back in 2005, but I may have to crack the case again to make sure I did it right back then...

I'm searching for a left side foot control bracket. The one I have is cracked. It also has an interesting detail. The "Honda" logo is backwards out of the mold, not reversed like a mirror but the letters are in reverse order. Any thoughts?

The parts look great. I don't have any experience with vapor honed parts so I'm not sure what the longevity of that finish would be without clearing them. The finish on polished parts tends to last quite a while because the polishing process closes the pores of the aluminum and makes corrosion less likely if kept clean, but someone with vapor honing experience will need to answer this question.

You will need to close that pore density up, as the vapour honing has improved the shorter term degradation of the finish. Yet not like polishing the parts as previously noted. I will usually reshoot clear coat on the highly polished parts. I have always taken the vapour honed drums to a higher finish level by buffing both the interior finned area and the outer flats of the side drum areas. These parts are then always clear coated to remove the high gloss aluminum shine and I find if I over polish them the clear coat gloss finish knocks the look down to a factory part.

At the very least I would clear coat the vapour honing matte finish, if you decide to keep that vapour honed look. Which is nice. I would consider a rattle can of wheel clear coat (VHT or DupliColor brands come to mind) and these products do exist in both a gloss and matte finish. The wheel clear coat is designed for the rigors of wheel use and is tough in my experience.

I would think the matte finish clear coat would be the best choice for the matte finished drums.
