the left carb is leaking out of the overflow port in bowl. the float is set right....i checked it with a clear gas hose holding up to the side and opening the drain. the drain screw seats good... but still leaks. help!!

Moved to SOHC Fuel section and retitled
Sounds like the brass stand pipe in the bowl is cracked. Removed the bowl, sand the pipe nice and shiny and look for a black vertical line showing the crack.
Add flux and solder closed.

Fixed

if you zoom in on the first bowl you'll see the crack in the overflow tube. the fix is a gas line from a weed eater... it's very tight.

I found the split in the overflow tube. Put a piece of weed eater gas line very tightly over it. I’d share photos but don’t know how.

So you didn't look at the Welcome Package of helpful links I slaved over a hot computer to create and share with everyone who posts their introduction?? Don't worry, you're not alone.

Welcome Package - first link in it explains posting pictures using our server host, or you can create an Imgur (or other picture hosting site) account and post their links

And then we want a picture!

Thanks all for your help and expertise! I heated the overflow tube and forced the weedeater gas line over it. The CM400T is running fine and not leaking. I'll let y'all know on the gas hose fix. The trick of drilling and tapping the idle jet was the big big deal. It all work so well. Only took the carbs apart three times. Thanks again!

I've been thinking about the weed eater gas line. It sits inside the fuel tank for years...
