If anyone needs to identify any US Honda model built between 1959 and 1988, I have the Honda ID Guide and will be happy to look it up for you.
All the usual model pages are below like the 125, 150, 160, 175, 200, 250/305, 350, 360, DOHC 450 and 500T, as well as the SOHC 400/450.
Let me know if you'd like any others scanned.

Wow, fantastic resource to have. Thanks for taking the time to scan all those pages.

You're welcome guys, but the truth is I had almost all of these scanned previously over time at HT and only had to scan a few more to complete each "set". Now they're out here in the open, all at once in one place, so no one has to request a copy in their thread but instead can view all of them in the same place. Seemed like the best thing to do, and I know eventually there will be a few more added as the older or less common models will be asked for. It's a great book, far too big to scan all of it, but we now have most of the common requests easily available.

Okay Jim, and I may as well just use this post to get started

Any others will be done by request, my book wants to fall apart at this point :frown:

Thanks for posting that guide. So I have a CB450K0 which your guide says was made from 65-68. Does that mean any parts from a 65-68 will fit my bike?

Sort-of.....When you look up the part number in the fiche, it may be listed as to a certain serial number, or there will be listed supersedes after certain serial numbers

Not necessarily. You are misinterpreting the info in the guide. 65-68 is stated as the “sales date”. The US version CB450 K0 4-speed was made between 65-67 and the original parts will have the 283 product code for that bike. As Sprint points out in some cases certain parts will be superseded with later parts that have a different product code, like 292 which happens to be the product code for 68-74 K1-K7 5-speed DOHC 450 parts.

Essentially, if you are searching for K0 450 parts you should look for 65-67 and things with a product code such as “xxxxx-283-xxx”

Hello, I'd like to ask You to scan CB125 twin range. Could You make it?

I can do that Andrew, but I'm afraid my copy of the ID Guide only shows US models. Your signature shows CB125K5, and all the CB125 models in my US book are CB125S (single cylinder models). The only 125 twin we got in the US was the SS125A and the CL125A

Thanks, next time I will be more focused on titles (US models) ;-)

And I wish my book covered more than just the US models since our forum is obviously an international one, and we are thankful to have our friends around the world!

Wow!!! Looks like I started something here!! I guess I'm not the only one with this gap in their knowledge.

Before I go any further I would like to offer my sincerest thanks to our Benevolent Dictator and the other guys (Sprint66, LDR and many others) who so reliably and accurately step in to answer all of our questions. I'm constantly in awe of the wealth of knowledge you guys have and your eagerness to share it. I know there are a great many hobbyists like myself who would be absolutely stumped without you guys. If you're ever through my way the drinks are on me!

Now back to the topic at hand...Ancient Dad, your book looks amazing and it explains how you seem to always have model specific information at hand. I thought you had just memorized every model number and part number Honda ever made. Seriously though, perhaps there is enough need to warrant some sort of Sticky or permanent conversation to help with future identification of models (or maybe this exists already on the forum.) I'm not asking you to take on another task, just wondering if there was a way to keep this information handy for the future without you having to run to your scanner.

And one further question...for those of us not in the US, is there any other resource that you know of to help with this quest?

Cheers

The way I understand it, the Cb350 K5 was the 1973 variant of the Honda Cb350, the only one with a disc brake. I also sometimes see online a Cb350 "g", that has a disc brake as well. Are the K5 and the G the same bike? I am asking purely out of curiosity. Thanks!

According to the Honda ID Guide, there is no CB350K5. The CB350G was the last CB350 before the CB360 replaced it. In the "Welcome Package" I posted in my reply to your introduction, there is a link to all the commonly requested entries from the ID Guide so you can check frame numbers of bikes against the model to determine what year the bike really is (since back when these bikes were new, they were often held over at the end of a model year and sold/titled the following year making the year first titled for some of them misleading today).

We try to provide as much of the typical information that most will ask for so we don't have to re-type as often.

Sorry I missed it in the welcome package. Thanks so much!

Thank you for taking the time out to scan the book and sharing! if my frame Vin is CB360-2008042 and the Engine is CB360E - 2008088. Does this classify my bike as a 1975 CB360T? and is this considered a matching number bike? Thank you in advance.

Do you have anything on the CA78 Dream?

Funny, I was just thinking about this, the why did they suddenly change the frame designations in '64 on. The engines remain 77, but the frame numbers only became 78 from then on. The models are still referred to as CA77. You don't have a weird bike. Hope this helps, a shot of a FB post from Bill, it probably is in his extensive 305 down load you can get from him.

This entry below shows that your bike is indeed a '75 CB360T, the '76 version started at frame number 220xxxx. Though matching frame and engine numbers are rare with our bikes, they have happened. Yours is as close to matching as any are, and far closer than typical. A "matching" version would have both sets of numbers exactly the same, very rare for Honda during that era because they did a lot of destructive engine testing using engines pulled right off the assembly line to ensure good spot checking of quality control.

Great data for my K1. Now are there any paint codes or procedures or is it just a swatch match?

AFAIK Honda never released any paint codes back then, but there are some sources on the internet that claim to know the color codes for them. An occasional member has pointed it out in the past but I can't recall where. The less common bikes like yours are even harder to be sure of. Places like Marbles Motors have some information but I'm not sure they cover all our vintage Hondas. A quick search brought up these links but not all the older models are covered

Hi ancientdad, I just found this thread and looked for information for my CL 175 K0. Thank you for sharing all those pages. Great guide by the way. My reg. documents recorded January 1968 as year of manufacturing . I'm not sure about January though. One question about orange reflector on front fender. All pictures of 1968 model doesn't have one. My bike is.

Front_Fender.jpg

Any idea why? Thanks

Not all of them... :) though the continent or country of delivery probably had something to do with it. The US version of the CL350 had one also early in its first year but the later K0s did not, so go figure. Little things like that were never explained to us by Honda.
