at the moment:

  • front is slightly lowered.
  • lower handlebars that are quite like drag bars, I may switch this out with a cb400f handlebars.
  • instruments/headlight lowered.
  • modified seat.
  • rear chopped off.
  • kept the rear mud guard, to guard from mud.
  • kept the oem rear light because it seemed more effective than what i could find, safety is more important here.
  • led turn indicators.
  • the license plate is held on via aftermarket bracket.
  • kenda challenger k657 tires both front and rear
  • kept the rear as much as possible because I'm still not sure if this is something I want to commit to. easier to keep than to chop and then want to go back. + kept the luggage mounts just in case.
  • decal is atm printer cut out. I think i like the simpler look so will just keep it black with white honda decal.
  • kept oem mirrors because they WORK!!

  • i'm thinking of adding LED lights were the orage reflectors are on the fender just for extra visibility in traffic.
  • rides quite comfortably! hoping the seat will last.
- still not sure if the look is at a good place.

Stupid question. Anyone know a good way to transport 2 motorcycles cross country? I may have to move sometime, and really don't want to give up the bikes yet. Would love to hear some ideas. Low cost is good, I don't have a tow vehicle atm. I thought about building a contraption using 2x4s and using straps to mount it on there similar to how it's done on a moto trailer. The bikes would then go in the same uhaul/ moving truck with everything else.

That would work. I would drain the fuel tanks first though. Make sure you strap them very well and pack stuff around them. They should be fine inside a UHaul.

I've done this and strapped the bikes upright against the sides, be sure to tie the wheels against the sides also since with the bouncing the tires walk out and the bike will tip. Draining the tanks is a good idea.
Don't try to ride the bike up the ramp, the floor is slick and you won't stop.
 
(Well it's been a minute) Anyone know how to store a bike like this long term in a warm climate? I've moved south where its basically lesser summer + greater summer and am wondering if I can keep the fuel tank empty around here. Any thoughts?
 
Checking in. It’s been a min holy smokes. Hope everyone is doing well.
Not much riding for me. I do have this bike, still. Recently decided to ditch the cafe bars, as I’m getting old I want some comfort. I can’t make up my mind on which handlebars. So grabbed CB400f replicas and these look good and fell good. Will upload photos soon hopefully.

Alright, this is a trusted forum so want to ask here as this is not the nighthawk. How do I really clean it up inside this tank? I dont want to deal with harsh chemicals/acids

Also what do you guys think of Red-Kote liner? Any experience?

Please advise.

I've never personally used any brand liner for a gas tank, but many here have and will weigh in soon.
 
Hey folks, hope all is well. Checking in after a while.

got a strange issue with the nighthawk. Some kind of an electrical issue I guess. Turn key everting lights up perfectly. As soon as I press start the power cuts out and bike dies. Battery is good, fuses are good. Solenoid is good. Everything getting power.

Anyone have this issue or something similar?
 
Sometimes a massive drop like that means the battery has taken a dump, though it could also be battery terminals not tight enough or ignition switch contacts are corroded and losing connection under load.
 
Wiring inside the right hand control. Odd that it’s not popping the fuse but that’s the most likely spot you could have something going to ground that shouldn’t be in that scenario.

Could possibly be a battery issue with shorted cells tha can handle the low load until the starter demand is present and then it fails.

Attach your voltmeter to the battery and hit the start button while watching the screen to see what happens to the static voltage.

Hmm, wonder if something can get pinched. I did tighten the handlebar controls but that was a while ago.
