I've been on the hunt for this cable for almost a year now. I don't have any reference pictures unfortunately (if anyone who has this cable is able to send pictures to me of the cable, THAT WOULD BE GREAT!!!), so its been extra hard to find a spare. No one online sells these cable (Ebay has been popping up here and there but I have had some bad experience), and no one in Southern Ontario is parting out a CM450E that specifically has a drum brake in the front. I don't really know what my options are now aside from just sitting and waiting for somebody in Ontario to part this specific part out.

If you ask me what happened to my old one, the previous one was extremely rusted and my dumbass decided to throw the cable out. This was when I first started working on this bike. So far, my current replacement has been a CM450E clutch cable that has a similar way of attaching to the front brake, but I believe the length is incorrect which makes it unable to fully engage the brakes.

Also, I am rocking CB400F bars on my CM450E. I think stock front brake cable might still work, the throttle cables designed for the CM450E work flawlessly on the CB400F bars.

Since you have the lower bars use a CB400T1 cable, shorter than the E version
Good to hear from you again LDR. As knowledgeable as always. CB400T didn't come with drum brake cables in the front I believe, so I am assuming you mean try using the clutch cable instead? I'll look into this but the way it mounts looks very similar to the CM450E. I just hate paying these crazy shipping prices.

I just happen to have my brake on the bench for service, CM400T with an E front wheel (a CB400ET). my cable is in rough shape, and I ordered a replacement that should arrive this week, but I kept the old one. This may help you in comparing to others on ebay to find one that will work.

Thank you for this, I am wondering though where did you order a replacement cable?
I ordered a "LOT" of cables for a 400E throttle cables, brake cable, Tach cable, and clutch. all of my cables were rusted solid. and I got it off ebay. just some one parting out a 400E.

also somehow they rigged a throttle cable for use as the choke. that was interesting.
