Hi,
I sold a friend my 7k mile CB175K5 USA import project last year. The engine had been previously stripped years ago and I had it stored at work.
Somewhere along the way the cylinder head went AWOL so I bought a replacement off eBay for him. The seller sold on eBay it as he had a K0 model and the head he was selling was supposedly for a later model.
I helped my mate rebuilt this head with NOS valves, stem seals etc and the engine is built up and in the frame ready for the exhausts to be fitted. I gave him NOS exhausts with the project. However, when he tried to fit them the exhaust header collets are way too long but I am convinced they are correct for a K5 model. Could it be possible that the head is a K0 (sloper) not a K3 -> K6 (upright model) cylinder head? His instinct is to cut down the collets but I have told him not to do that until we have fully established what the real problem is.
After he had built the engine, I actually found the 'missing' K5 head and we are going to do a comparison tomorrow.
Meanwhile, how can I identify the differences between a K0 and the later head? If it is a K0 head, can it be used on the K5 or is it best to swap back to the original (engine out, strip and a lot of work)
