washers to prevent broken top triple tree

Will I be able to use a regular 8mm washer like the washers on both sides of the pinch bolt on the top triple tree and grind it down to fit?

I bagged and tagged everything and can't find this hardware it's only been 11 years since I did that

This part number matches the corresponding part on the CB450 top bridge and @boddy has documented the dimensions in another thread. I believe the thickness of the D washer is greater than a standard 8mm washer. Since the purpose of the washer is to reduce stress when the top bridge is clamped, a thinner washer will not work as well.

I have 2 of the D washers that I am not using as I got an aftermarket top bridge. They are just hanging out in a box of parts waiting to get lost so I will be happy to mail them to you. They are off a 450 but part number is the same. If you would like them PM me your address and I will post them. All I ask for compensation is pay it forward sometime.
