replacing stock dust covers with rubber fork covers [SOLVED/FOUND]

It looks like after some research, this should be what you're looking for: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=35mm+rubber+fork+boots&iar=images

I searched for "Harley Davidson Sportster shock boots" since thats what the image you linked said the forks were from. It seems Harley used them many years ago, and everyone called them 35mm fork boots.

Which Honda do you have? Older models typically have external fork springs, which will prevent the use of the dust covers in the photo you posted.

Yeah, definitely more info needed. CB350 judging from posts?

Someone else might chime in, but you've got a bike with 33mm fork tubes. Other bikes that might work (33mm) are the 350F and 400F, but the 350F had the same kind of fork cover (metal) and the 400Fs didn't have any (although they did have the lower rubber seal). 550s had rubber gaiters up until 1976 IIRC but they've got 35mm forks. For the ones that do have rubber gaiters, there are grooves in the bottom of the fork ears and top of the fork lowers for the rubber to fit into, which is going to be your issue. I imagine you could glue them on somehow or use a zip tie, but dunno how that's going to look...

I want to replace the stock dust covers on the front forks. The one on the boot and one that attaches at the triple tree. I want to put rubber one on the boots like in this photo.

Has anyone done this and does anyone know if there are parts available to do this?

Thanks in advance
Some clarification is necessary. Do you mean you want to add fork boots (gaiters) to the forks in the picture at the link above? Or do you mean you want dust caps like the ones on the forks in the link above?

Do you plan to try to use them on your CB350? I had to look at your profile to know what bike you were talking about, please remember to mention it in the future or add your bike to your signature.

I had the same question. FWIW, I fitted CD250u forks to my SL175 frame. The CD250u has rubber fork gaiters, but I was able to remove these and fit SL175 rubber fork seal caps. Helps that fork tubes are same diameter on these bikes.

EDIT I sawed off the lower caliper mounting lug, if anyone wonders. Top one worked out OK for brake torque arm.

Fork seals, before caps fitted.

I had used aftermarket sold for CB750 69-76 on my CM400C. They fit the fork lowers just a bit loose, and for the tops I made bushings on my lathe from an old hockey puck.

I have a 1972 CB350 K2.
I was on vacation and yes just like the one in Richard Pitman's picture with the red fender.

The OP wants this style of setup. I don’t know how that would work with external fork springs.

If it has external fork springs he's going to need 'new' forks.
I'm glad you understood original post then explained it to us , I was a bit confused.
At least he's pretty close to me by the look of things so may be able to contact and get better information?
