new points in place. LH point set at .014" and timed correctly. when I time the RH set, the point gap is .020+" . I changed the LH set to 12 and made no diff to the RH set. cant go wider on the LH set because the arm runs into the allen head screw
ideas or suggestions? thanks Rod in AZ

Sounds like you bought some of those bad aftermarket points. Check the pin on the back of the points to see if it actually fits the hole in the plate correctly, many of these cheesy aftermarket points don't fit the plate right and it causes trouble.

Can you see a brand logo stamped into them? If they're Daiichi points, you should look for another set, lots of people are having trouble with them. If not, then they could be like those sold by CMC a couple years ago where you need to file the holes to allow more adjustment movement.

Same with the generic points sold by 4-into-1..
