Hi guys,

I've come across a strange problem, and haven't figured it out via search. My bike had been running great, but since I cleaned my cheap cone filters the same way I clean the K&N on my other bike I have not been able to get rid of a high rpm 6k-ish stumble.

The strange thing is that if I remove them completely the bike runs great at all rpm!

I have tried cleaning the filters again, running them with and without K&N oil, even ordered new cheap filters and same stumble. I'd LOVE to run the stock filters, but they are unavailable and/or ridiculously expensive. I have the 26mm Kehin carbs because it is an SL350 K2, that supposedly isn't too sensitive to cone filters. I checked the ignition advance mechanism, and it appears functional, set the points and the bike starts on one kick.

Any chance it would be a carb boot issue made worse with the extra weight of pod filters?

I think I figured out a couple things.

I stumbled upon a good air filter shape by mistake, when I purchased these on the internets:

But they do not respond well to being cleaned with the same method as my K&N cone filter, and I ended up just buying another pair.

I tried a pair with a different shape, and they didn't seem to agree with my setup. It's running well with the fresh filters.
