Does anyone know whether CDI from e.g. '83 CB450SC or later is compatible with the earlier series of '78-'81 CB400T?

To be clear all of the CB/CM 400/450 manual trans CDI's are the same from 1979 thru 1986, 1978 CDI's used bullet connectors on the Blue/White connection instead of the plug found on later models. Changing connectors is all that required to make them work.

Yes, and I make adapters for that as well if you need one for the 78 connectors so you don't have to hack up the harnesses.

thanks all, found one attic boneyard today from an '83 that will replenish the one I swiped from our resting '78 that I swiped for son's commuter '81 that failed on the weekend! It looks weathered around the polymer block edges but I'll grab them when I find them.
