My cam chain has a master link with dimpled pins, needing a flare to secure the side plate. I have a standard size chain tool but the flaring tool and anvil are sized for drive chains. I don’t think it will work properly for the smaller cam chain pins.
What method do you use for securing these cam chain pins? Is there a smaller tool for this? Appreciate any help.IMG_7344.jpeg

I used a drive chain tool with one of the extraction pins ground to a taper.

Right one riveted, left one before riveting.

When I saw the title of your post, I thought you might have been asking about using a master link in an endless chain, which I was going to suggest for ease of assembly (the 450 survives just fine with one). With someone to hold the "dolly" (2 lb hammer) behind the link, I've used a steeply tapered punch and hammer on many but a chain tool is the simplest way.
