Ok, I’m not sure how to submit my question, but here goes.
I am reassembling a 1980 Honda CM400T, I just installed the rear brake pedal and was going to install a new brake light switch I recently purchased. The switch came with a spring about 4” long, the only place I see to mount the switch is up high next to forward side of battery box, small fixed bracket with hole in it…but the spring is way to short to work at this location.
Did I get a switch with the wrong spring ? Or is there another spot to mount switch?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanx

This picture shows the spring hooked to the pedal return spring correctly.

On the side of the frame there should be an odd looking sheet metal tab/holder for the switch directly above the lower spring mount.

When you're wondering how things are supposed to go, it is often helpful to look at parts diagrams on Partzilla or CMSNL. They don't make everything crystal clear, but can be a big help.

That said, the diagram obviously doesn't show how the lower hook of the brake switch spring connects to the spring number 8. Kind of a goofy setup if you ask me.

Thanx, I figured it out, the new spring was way too short, I found the old one which was a few inches longer and it worked. I refer to the diagrams, but put too much faith in getting the correct new parts…ughhh.
