Had a bunch of carb parts out and had a squirrel moment and put together this adapter.

I tinned both pieces then eyeballed the centre and put them together. Drilled a hole from the backside. Put flats on the screw to accept a 10mm wrench.

Works nicely on the VB carbs, no modification required.

Found another source, but currently out of stock

and

Another possible but maybe too long to use mounted on the bike

Call me a goof-ball... what is the purpose for doing this?
Is it a way to confirm the float level of the carb?

Exactly - gives more than the static check and can help determine if you've got a slowly sinking float, etc. Also, on some of the carb models it's really difficult to get the thing tilted just right to set the level.

Thank you... it seemed like that could work.
Clever.. I might just order a pair for my 3D carbs. That tilt while measuring thing is somewhat subjective.

I can confirm that the Amazon right angle taps work. They swivel to make it very easy to get a reading level while on the bike.

I removed the float bowl and installed the tap, then replaced it on the carb on the bike. The wire bail will not close all the way, but it's snug enough to hold it in place for the test.
Since they come in a pack of two, you can set both carbs at the same time.
